Glen Elgin 12yo Syrah

Single malt Scotch from Glen Elgin, distilled in September 2009 and matured for a dozen years, including a finish in a first-fill syrah (shiraz) red wine barrel. In January 2022, that cask was opened by indie bottler DS Tayman, releasing a total of 375 bottles.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Juicy pears and gristy barley open things up, with jammy pastries and heart wood spice.

Palate Stewed cherries, chocolate raisins and baked apples mingle as peppery heat develops beneath.

Finish Honeyed plums, sweet barley, and more fresh pear, with lingering drying oak and prickling spice.

Reviews for Glen Elgin 12 Year Old 2009 Syrah Edition - DS Tayman
Pleasant whisky
Found this more agreeable than the linkwood 12yo. The label is unreadable. Whose idea was it to go with white on yellow? Disappointing.

Mmmmm Fruity metal
I really like this. Having been a big fan of the Glen elgin 12 yr old this one is exactly the same with that lovely meaty, acidic tang softened out by the fruity cask influence
