A stunningly well-aged grain whisky here from Girvan! Distilled all the way back in 1964, this Lowlander spent over half a century (!) slumbering in a single cask. Eventually, after 55 years had passed, Berry Bros. & Rudd bottled the whisky for its Exceptional Casks series, with 84 bottles released at 45.6% ABV. An exceptional cask indeed!
This exceptional Single Grain from Girvan’s first year of production gives rich waves of vanilla and nuts surrounded by fresh apple and oak resin.
The palate is lively but layered with more vanilla, cinnamon and orange citrus bursting through.
The finish is so well paced and long leaving a wonderful impression of sophistication and maturity.
