Girvan 40 Year Old 1979 (cask 16637) - The Sovereign (Hunter Laing)
A Hunter Laing bottling of 40 year old single grain from Girvan Distillery, drawn from a single refill hogshead and bottled as part of The Sovereign range at cask strength 51.2% ABV without any additional colouring or chill-filtration. It's as spectacular as it sounds.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Cacao, coffee and waves of caramel, then banana fritters, green apple and soft peppery hints in the backdrop.
Palate
Brown sugar, creamy vanilla and fleshy stone fruit at first with melted white chocolate and red berries underneath.
Finish
Long and sweet, with lingering dry oak spices and toasted marshmallow.
