One of a trio of 12 year old expressions from the Glenston's range that have been finished in different types of cask - this particular expression was treated to a finishing period in Port casks. Tasty Irish single malt, with its fruit notes bolstered by the Port casks. Wonderful news all around.
White chocolate, barley, strawberries and red apples.
Soft cinnamon and ginger, followed by continued strawberry sweetness and some drying oak heat.
Orange peel and blackcurrant jam.
needs a splash i think. this then is quite nice. i get a bit of ginger; maybe a bit of strawbeyy or blackcurrent; or both. a nice warming finish. not found the orange so far tho. yes blackcurrent deep in finish.. needs the water but quite good. fortunately didnt pay the full price as its not a 80 quid whisky. but not bad at 40.. struth
