Garnheath 43 Year Old 1974 (cask 11619) - Xtra Old Particular (Douglas Laing)
A rare (and very well-aged) example of Garnheath single grain Scotch whisky! Garnheath closed in the late '80s, but you can still get your hands on their whisky via indie bottlings like the wonderful Douglas Laing. This was distilled in February 1974 and aged in a single refill hogshead for 43 years, before being bottled in February 2017. A very small number of bottles were produced - just 128 of them!
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Packed to the brim with vanilla richness! A little underlying touch of toasted pineapple, but vanilla is the main attraction here.
Palate
Soft salted caramel and cooked tropical fruit once again. Some baking spice heat develops - think black pepper and cinnamon.
Finish
Lasting sweetness of vanilla and toffee ice cream.
