The Small Batch bottling is one of the select few releases from Four Roses. This edition was given a Five Stars in 2007 by Spirit Journal as well as a Silver Medal at the 2007 International Spirits Challenge.
The nose is quite subtle and smooth, there are notes of winter spice and buttered granary toast with thick honey. There are hints of cut flowers and dry hay. The palate is much fuller with a lovely balance. There are notes of manuka honey, winter spice, toasty oak, a little crème anglaise and thick fruit. The finish is of good length with a resurgence from the crème anglaise.

Lithe, smooth, with strong floral notes (which I happen to enjoy), I find Small Batch refreshingly affordable and a nice treat at the end of a long day.

I don't think there's a better bourbon at this price range.

The small batch is significantly better than the regular. It's one of the best bourbon I've ever tried.

To complete a trilogy of Four Roses after having tried the level entry and single barrel versions and been mildly impressed but this is the pick of the three. Some well balanced spice, dark sweet fruit and buttery, juicy oak. Would love to know where Mr expensive can get this for under £20?? The Whisky Flaneur

I was really surprised by this, but not pleasantly. I've bought a lot of bourbons high and low priced and this was the only bottle I have ever got bored of and couldn't wait to move on from. It does have a unique taste and that's obviously going to be a subjective thing, but if you like your bourbon rich and full of caramel flavours you're maybe better of spending your dollars/pounds/euros/krugerrands elsewhere.

This is a very smooth likable bourbon. It has a high rye content so there's a lot of spice both in the nose and on the palate. While Four Roses Yellow Label is cloyingly sweet, almost like a liqueur, the Small Batch strikes a more appealing balance between sweet elements and spicy flavors and wood influence. Lots of fruit on the nose, especially cherries, along with a hint of toffee and vanilla, there is a pleasing mixture of spice (cinnamon, allspice, a dash of cloves) and fruit on the palate. The finish features a hint of oak and prominent vanilla. At 45% ABV you may be tempted to add some water. Doing so will bring the sweetness and vanilla elements forward, and if that's what you enjoy, I say go for it. The water dulls the rye and oak influences to a degree. Without water I find this bourbon has just the right balance of sweet fruits and musty wood. It's not as oaky as Woodford Reserve, Elijah Craig, or Wild Turkey 101, but neither is it as candylike as Four Roses Yellow. Found it for $30US in Illinois and love all the complexity.

Очень хороший, насыщенный и мягкий бурбон!

But too sweet, recommend a 2 drink maximum of this.

I'm not a fan of this bourbon. The nose and flavor are kind of nauseating when compared to something even as everyday as a Maker's Mark or Hirsch. Save your money on this one. The only thing this is good for is with coke.

Ive had a lot of "high dollar" bourbons. This bourbon is not only one of the smoothest I've ever had, you can find it specialty stores for like $30 for 750ml. That can't be beat. And after you have yourself a taste, you'll agree. Leave your snobby bourbon critic friends at home, buy a bottle of this stuff, pour a glass for them, and show them what this inexpensive bourbon can do.

This is a very very friendly priced bourbon. For the $, you won't get a bourbon smoother.
Why do you charge so much for this? £10 cheaper on another website. Great stuff though. Worth a buy. But not from here.

This Bourbon is an excellent one for half the price of other tasty comparisons. Excellent buy. Excellent Bourbon.

Four roses is different. lighter and floral. There's sharp citrusy rye with fruity/rosy fresh taste. It's perfect for summer evenings, but not so great winter warmer. Nice bourbon.
