Four Roses founder Paul Jones Jr. became undoubtedly smitten by a beautiful woman who he proposed to. She said she would let him know her answer by attending an evening ball with a four rose corsage. We guess she said yes, since he renamed his entire brand to Four Roses! This Single Barrel 100 Proof bourbon is a rich, plummy and fruity whiskey, and it makes a fantastic Hot Toddy or Kentucky lemonade.

Nose
A balanced, rich, fruity nose. Notes of spices and chocolate. Toffee and vanilla.
Palate
Tart stone fruits, prunes, spices, morello cherries, cocoa and vanilla.
Finish
Oak, chocolate, butterscotch.

A great, fairly priced bourbon
This was my first bourbon and still remains one of my favorite whisk(e)ys to this day. The nose is very classic notes of dark fruit, vanilla, winter spices, and a hint of leather. Then on the palate the dark fruit takes hold, with caramel sneaking its way in from the background, followed by a light spicyness. The finish on this is definitely one of my favorite parts, quite oily with the woods and spices really taking over. I'd also like to mention just how smooth this is for a 100 proof whiskey. Much more approachable than you'd think. For $36 in my local liquor store I really couldn't ask for more.

Please don’t buy this bourbon.....
The more word spreads that an excellent single barrel is less than $50, the harder it will be for me to find. MoM have this priced very well, but in the States it’s $35 all day long. This is a rich, creamy, bourbon with dark fruit mixed right in. Think of blackberry cobbler with melting vanilla ice cream. The feel on the tongue is also creamy providing a nice slow finish. The 100 proof is played perfectly with a large ice ball without losing the single barrel quality of the bourbon. That being said, it’s still 100 proof and that means a little heat. Just enough so you don’t feel you’ve been cheated (Like I felt when I first sipped Basil Hayden’s). As many of you do, I keep a decanter ready for company that may stop by. My decanter used to be filled with another bourbon (that’s another story) but now it always has FRSB ready to go. Drop by anytime....

Stunning
Wow. This is a fantastic whiskey! Great character, good balance. I was, for a long time, a bit skeptic regarding bourbon. Now, after drinking Michter's, Bulleit, JD Single Barrel, and this supreme drink, Four Roses Single Barrel, I am addicted. This is marvelous stuff. Perfect for this Indian Summer we have at the west coast of Norway as we speak. Sweet, balanced, absolutely brilliant drink in the sun. Cheers.

Fairly priced, very high quality whiskey -
Can't decide if this has more licorice than caramel. Salty too.
Delicious.
