Distilled in Yorkshire, this batch of Filey Bay's Peated Finish English single malt was initially matured in a selection of first-fill bourbon barrels, before a secondary maturation in peated casks, imparting elegant notes of delicate smoke to the sweet, citrussy malt.
Caramel, toasted almonds, and lemon drizzle cake support waves of elegant peat smoke.
Apples and plums lead, with floral malt, roasted nuts, and sweet baking spices, while whispers of coastal peat murmur beneath.
A touch of pepper, smoked oak, lemon balm, and runny caramel.
I’m a big fan of all of the Filey releases. The Moscatel finish is delicious but I struggle to spend an entire evening with it due to the sweetness. With this peated release there is minimal peat but it accents the pear and lemon in a wonderful way. I could drink it all evening.
