FEW Bourbon

The fantastic FEW Bourbon, packed full of toffee, clove, vanilla and warming spice goodness! This splendid craft beauty comes presented in a gorgeous bottle adorned with a label showing off some local heritage, depicting a scene from the Chicago World’s Fair of 1892. A vibrant spirit drink filled to the brim with character.

FEW Spirits hails from Evanston in the United States of America, a city that suffered Prohibition for over one hundred years thanks to many of its advocates hailing from its dry streets. Thankfully Evanston is now home to this excellent craft distillery which takes its name ironically from the initials of Frances Elizabeth Willard, a key figure in the Temperance Movement.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Cloves, vanilla and caramel form a rich and spicy aroma.

Palate The flavour is sweet with notes of toffee and caramel with spicy notes of cardamom and cloves.

Finish The finish is long and lingering with warmer spice notes tingling until the very end.

Overall This is a spicy sip indeed, and great for it!

Reviews for FEW Bourbon
Goes down too easy!!
I think this is the perfect balance between the sweeter bourbons and the Scottish whiskeys…. Should’ve bought 10 when it was on sale.

Feels more like gin than bourbon
This is a bourbon with a specific taste. It has a pine-like scent. I guess it feels more like gin than bourbon. I'm not saying it's bad, but it's not a traditional bourbon.

Bitter Overdrive
Young and far to bitter in not a good way. The balance is off. It is a shame that it didn't spend more time in barrel, because it has interesting range of flavours, unfortunately bitterness overpowers them. I can only give it 2.5 stars because of the premium price.

Different
This is definitely a different taste for a bourbon. It does grow on you, though.

very palatable bourbon.
a nicely balanced, smooth bourbon with delicate spices and lots of toffee. warming medium finish and nice mouthfeel. More of a craft bourbon than something like Eagle or Weller.. still its a nice drink and fine without water.

Far too spicy, not well balanced
Very oily, a glass clinger. A rich buttery vanilla mixes with a firm hit of spice on the first sniff, gingerbread and malt. The rich vanilla and toffee continues in the mouth, before you're hit like a ten ton truck with the spice. A real tongue tingler, like you've had a mouthful of madras, little chilli heat comes through along with the all spice.

Long finish, you're just left with burnt caramel and that lingering spice. If you like a spicy dram, this is the one for you, but it's not that well balanced, the spice is too overpowering, dominating all the other flavours. Not for me.

A spicy number
The comments about it being a young bourbon and tasting like it are spot on. It has a pleasing nose and the spice and Carmel are there in spades. High alcohol taste without the high alcohol somehow, it has quite a burn at the back of the tongue, and it stays on your tongue without water. I’d recommend a drop or two of water in a tasting glass to open it up and smooth it out.

One of the best
A very good bourbon, possibly too good as it goes down a treat. Wether you drink bourbon neat or with a mixer then you’re guaranteed to like this one.

Depends on your palette
I admit I'm still finding my favourite when it comes to a Bourbon and this isn't it unfortunately. I can see why many reviews love it and a few dislike it. When "spicy" is mentioned it's very heavy on the clove and cardamom and it's not for me. Now I'm not saying it's not a nice drop but it's just not for my palette, for me it's a a steady 6/10 but that's because it's not for me personally. If you dont mind the flavours of clove and cardamom then you'll love it. Overall smooth but with a heavy kick of "particular"spice. Brave, even at £45 a bottle.
