Fettercairn
Scotland
Single Malt
A handsome, smartly packaged Fettercairn. Fior is Gaelic for "true", and the whisky has an astonishingly rich flavour of cocoa, espresso, spices, fruit and almond. We love it. It was released in Summer 2010 as part of the distillery's rebranding process, which is positioning them into the premium market.

I brought this one home with me from a recent trip to Scotland, untasted. I bought it solely on its proximity to other favorites of mine on the taste map and it flavor profile. I'm not disappointed, fruit and coffee on the nose, coffee, caramel and just a little spice on the palate and smooth enough to make me sad I only brought one home.
I was given this some time ago and it got tucked into the cupboard until last week. This is a smooth and slightly sweet drink with a hint of smoke. A really good nose that the taste does not disappoint. Sadly, it seemed to evaporate rather quickly as within 3 nights of my usual but modest 2 shots a night, the entire bottle had emptied itself.
I did several tastings at the Grill in Aberdeen during my last trip. At the end of the week, this was my favorite.
As above...
I did a tour of the Fettercairn distillery in September whilst in Scotland on a fishing trip, and ended up trying 4 of their whiskies, from their Fasque at the 'bottom end' of the range, a single cask, and up to their 24yo at £125+ a bottle...out of all of them the Fior was my favourite by a considerable margin!! A really nice whisky (I already had a bottle in my cabinet prior to the visit!).
