Fary Lochan 6 Year Old - Batch 2 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)
That Boutique-y Whisky Company has been busy gathering a splendid array of whiskies for its World of Smoke series, and smoke doesn't have to mean peat – as this single malt from Denmark's Fary Lochan goes to show! Matured in a rum cask, the whisky is smoked with fresh nettles, resulting in layers of buttery sweetness, coupled with fragrant herbaceous hedgerow character alongside the sweet stone fruits and nutty, oily malt at its core.
Batch 2 is a release of 409 bottles.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottles limited edition whiskies from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Cinder toffee and light notes of toffee ripple ice cream are joined by carrot cake, dried herbs, starchy grist, and estery notes of fresh paint and furniture polish.
Palate
Herbaceous, almost botanical with a peppering of spice, fragrant grass, and garden herbs, backed by stewed green tea, oily nuts, and notes of sawdust.
Finish
A touch of raspberry sweetness develops in time, leading to an interestingly estery finish, with soft spice, foam bananas, toasted oak, and tea leaves.
