Elijah Craig Small Batch Bottling Note

Elijah Craig has long been a favourite bourbon of many whiskey enthusiasts - to the point where their stocks of 12 year old bourbon have been under a lot of pressure. The producers made the decision to discontinue the 12 Year Old expression and create this expression to take its place. It manages to maintain the incredibly high quality that Elijah Craig is known for, including the delicious core of cooked apple drizzled in honey notes. This expression has been well received, taking home not one but two San Francisco World Spirits Competition Double Gold medals!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Honeycomb, fresh cedar, marmalade and some spicy cardamom seed.

Palate: Baked apples with a dusting of cinnamon, followed by fresh honey and cookie dough.

Finish: Lingering nutmeg and charred oak.

Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon Reviews

Surprised due to mixed reviews and expected a harsh burn
I didn’t, I found this to be really good. The burn is there but not like 100 proof and above burn. Has great classic balanced bourbon flavours. I taste the honey, oak, apples and pears, nice hug and spice on the finish, cool bottle. Nice

One star because of the bottle design

Don’t like it very spicy better bourbons out there for sure

Nice but not special/worth the money.

Ok so in the UK if you are lucky enough to find this it will run you about £45 (currently $56 ), which yeah it's ok but absolutely nothing special when I can get Woodford reserve for half the price.

I keep buying it.

I like EC small batch. I’m not a whiskey snob but I’m not afraid to buy $100 bottles either. I don’t mix but I do run a full glass of ice and chase the melt. I know it’s wrong in the whiskey world but I do it to Blantons to. At $25 this is a damn good backyard BBQ, lake, hunting, fishing anytime bourbon. Save your money for trips, gear and guns.

So far on my bourbon experience I'd have to say this is one of the best! They say it's one of the smoothest bourbons and it is but not so smooth it takes away that nice whiskey finish.

94 proof really?!

I don't believe the proof. Sure I'm buzzed but I think the 800 mg of ibuprofen is helping. Going back to 100 proof Rye I miss the super-size finish. Too smooth sneaks up on you. Not much of a nose but good palate caramel apple flavor and all that stuff. Not trying to sell you this whiskey, but pretty good for the money. At least not obnxious like Redemption Rye.

Tastes are different for all!

Some people quite clearly think they're coniseurs. Taste is subjective. For me this is a smooth tasteful drink. For others, it may be dreadful. If you like smooth bourbon...get involved!

Compelled to put things in perspective with so many negative reviews on here. This has everything.. the arrival of MM with the taste and finish of ER10

Very good bourbon

Don't know what these guys are talking about this is great I usually pay $35

Not worth the price

Certainly not a terrible dram, but nothing really stands out either. Pretty bottle, but a meh experience for me overall.

Worth about AU$40.

I reckon this is only the thin end of the wedge for the Elijah Craig brand. Firstly it tastes nothing like the 12, it's put into a 'politically correct' cheapened "S.N.A.G/ GAL bottle...and then you find out it costs the same!
Grass Roots drinkers will fall by the wayside and switch camps.

Smells Good, Tastes bland - Elijah Craig

With a Dark Ember color, the Elijah Craig isn't so beautiful for the eye, lacking brightness.
It has a harmonious aroma with low complexity but nice intensity. In the palate, it is where I got disappointed. The intensity you get on the nose is gone and you are left with a quite simple and sweet whisky that finishes with a long sweet note resembling sweetener.

I heard good things about this bourbon but its just not doing it for me, I get something like burnt plastic whenever I taste it

Just simply one of my favorites
