“Fantastic for the price point. I’m a huge fan of Islay malts so thought I may miss the peaty, malty flavour of those but this is a very rich dram with loads of character and a smooth aftertaste. I’m not one who eulogises about subtle tasting notes but can’t argue with those in the description. Highly recommended.”

From Edradour, Scotland's 'little gem', comes this 10 year old single malt Scotch whisky with big flavour. A limited edition bottling by Signatory, this forms part of the Un-Chillfiltered collection. Distilled by Edradour in the Highlands in March 2012, it then matured for all of ten years in a single cask before being bottled up at 43% ABV in May 2022.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Big dried fruits and sherry sweetness, a hint of citrus peel.

Palate

Full-bodied, oaky vanilla, with dried figs and plums.

Finish

Spicy, nutty finish.

Try This

This is a whisky that needs time to open-up. Pour yourself a glass and leave it for twenty minutes. Add half-a-teaspoon of water and leave it for another 10 minutes. Now taste.

A marmite dram but I love the stuff

Without added colourant, this is as dark a whisky as you could get. Coca-Cola levels of dark brown. It's thick in the class, a real wall climber. The nosing is punch in the face agressive. If you want clean and fruity this is not for you, this is astringent but in a good way. It has an almost medicinal quality to it, and a lot of herby aromas. It's also a bit of a sherry bomb on the nose, it's pungent and heavy, yeasty and a bit bready. The first sip is immense. Your gob will not know what to make of it. Intense dried fruit with some vanilla in the background, but still with that medicinal cough mixture like tang. This is a marmite dram, you'll either love or hate it, and certainly not something you'd give someone who is only used to a gentle Glenfiddich 12 Year Old. It's thick in the mouth. a little oakiness and only a minor amount of heat. Deep treacle and then a little mint in the background with some citrus. It's complicated, every sip is a new experience. The finish is warm and long, a real throat pleaser - that herbacious element remains with some citrus oil, along with that sherry, black treacle, oak wood and vanilla note. I personally love it, but I can understand how it would not be for everyone.

One of my favourites.

On my third bottle cask 153. Don’t like it. Leave them on the shelf and I will take a hit for you. If you haven’t tried this then what you waiting for. It’s got a load of character and entertainment. Little teaspoon of water and it just takes the abv back a little. Not too much as you still want a little heat right. So smooth and yummy.
