Ballechin 12 Year Old 2009 (cask 346) - Straight From The Cask
Smoky single malt here form the Edradour Distillery, released under the Ballechin name (as they are wont to do with their peaty drams). This one was distilled in October 2009 and matured in an Oloroso sherry cask for 12 years, leaving plenty of time for the sherried sweetness to develop within the savoury single malt. It was eventually bottled in October 2021 for the Straight From The Cask series, with 951 bottles produced.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Roast chestnuts, honeyed barley, chocolate frosting.
Palate
Prunes and redcurrants, waxy peels, a good helping of earthy, smoky peat and some toasty spices.
Finish
Rye bread, salted butter, marmalade.
