Dumbarton 30 Year Old 1987 (cask 14327) - The Sovereign (Hunter Laing)
The Sovereign range, bottled by Hunter Laing, compromises of single cask whiskies that are of cask strength and without chill filtration or artificial colouring, and, crucially, are between 25 and 50 years of age.
This Dumbarton 30 Year Old, sourced from the lost Scottish distillery, is a prime example. An exceptional single grain Scotch whisky, it comes at a price point that boasts incredible value. 135 bottles were produced.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
A beautiful, delicate nose reveals notes of digestive biscuits, milky porridge and summer fruits with warm honey and cinnamon and nutmeg spice.
Palate
Smooth and supple with creamy milk chocolate and soft butterscotch lathering rich, cooked fruits, honeydew melon and toasted oak. Vanilla latte and honey'd cereals linger, as wholemeal toast gives a pleasant, savoury backdrop.
Finish
Tart green apples are tempered by the light sweetness of icing sugar and the buttery, soft fudge. Sprightly oak and a slow rumble of spice conclude proceedings splendidly.
