Dufftown Malt Master's

A bottling of Singleton whisky that's a perfect introduction for those that are new to single malts, the Singleton of Dufftown Malt Master's Selection was created by The Singleton master of malts Craig Wilson. He hand-selected and blended the whisky before it was maturated in European and American oak casks with three variants; ex-wine, ex-sherry and ex-bourbon. Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Soft orchard fruit esters develop into boiled apple candies. White pepper begins to crackle through golden syrup and buttered bread, with a little marzipan icing in the backdrop.

Palate A slightly oily palate carries more sweet notes of rich toffee, vanilla and a suggestion of pear drops. A green, grassy undertone lingers throughout as a youthful, vibrant spice prickles away.

Finish The spice dissipates among more vanilla and a little wood ash.

Overall A thoroughly enjoyable dram of whisky that absolutely works in a variety of serves.

Reviews for Singleton of Dufftown Malt Master's Selection
Awful- I'll use it for cooking.
Harsh, burning, no hint at all of the Sherry casks.
This nothing like it is described by the distillery on their label. I bought it thinking it might be just a tad like that sublime whiskey- Redbreast Laustau... also aged in Sherry casks. Chalk and cheese.
Definitely not for me.

Its alright
Not my favourite Singleton, the 12 YO is much better. That said, it's still a nice enough tipple but there's probably better options in the £30 price bracket, although well worth it when on offer in the supermarket at £22. Still worth a try though

A poor chef's whisky.
Not impressed.
This is a young, naive whisky. Thin, harsh white pepper is barely mellowed by honey vanilla fighting back through the nose. A few days in and I'm already pondering its use as a marinade for mackerel. All it needs is some garlic and a squeeze of lemon. (Yes, seriously).

No; I'll not be buying another.

Fire in the nose...
Firstly, heat, finishing in a buttery, honeyed cream, a lightly oiled finish. first-class for the money. If it's not to your liking it may be due to an uneducated palette...

Not good enough
Considering how many excellent distillers there are in Moray, I can't understand why this is so bad. I've had the 12 year old which smelled nice, but its not nearly as good as its neighbours. This is also a poor effort, it's not horrible, but it needs to improve a lot it's a 'D' Tier whisky.

Very nice and not too complex
I drink all scotch with water so bear that in mind. Smooth and creamy. A bit floral and a bit spicy. It is a very nice dram for the price, and has a classic single malt mix of sweetness and alcohol bite. Will buy again for sure.

Too Spicy for my liking
Was really looking forward to sampling this as Dufftown is just over the hill from me. As others have said it is quite harsh on the first sip, but gets slightly better. Too spicy for my liking. hints of pepper and grassy undertones. I wouldnt buy this again

Not a bad dram at all
Received a sample of this as a Christmas extra for my main order. Quite a nice drink, a bit of fire at first, with a very noticable, fairly sweet vanilla finish.

Certainly one I'd look at getting a full bottle of. Thanks, Whisky Santa!

Would get this again
I got a sample of this as I was recommended by my dad. I found it to be a nice tipple. Sweetness and pepper come through on the nose, the peppery flavour remaining through to the finish with a slight ashy finish as you breath in. Nice and smooth on the palate though, definitely would get this again.
