Debt Collector Whisky
Battersea's Doghouse distillery took inspiration from classic American corn whiskey when making Debt Collector. Made from a mash bill of corn, barley, and rye, it's fermented with a Kentucky bourbon yeast and matured for three years in American oak before bottling at a satisfying 50% ABV. Sip it neat, serve up a hard lemonade, stir it in an Old Fashioned, or bring on the Picklebacks!
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Big upfront cherry notes – think Dr Pepper – with supporting layers of orange peel, baked apple, and a swirl of banana milkshake. There's a creamy hit of coconut, milk chocolate, and caramel, all wrapped in classic American oak sweetness. A hint of nutty maltiness and a flicker of red chilli heat linger underneath.
Palate
That cherry carries through confidently, joined by more crisp apple and citrus zest before the oak kicks in with honey, toffee, and a wave of toasted coconut. Rich milk chocolate and a soft nuttiness round things out, with black pepper and red chilli heat delivering the Doghouse signature bite.
Finish
The spice lingers – peppery and a touch fiery – while sweet notes of caramel, nut brittle, and tropical fruit slowly fade. Still very much in bourbon territory, but with a distinctly Doghouse twist.
