Discovery Road Four Lions

Discovery Road Four Lions Bottling Note

One of the first releases from Discovery Road, the range of "new world" whiskies chosen by whisky writer Dominic Roskrow. The collection is set to open the eyes of the whisky world by bottling expressions from around the globe, just not the usual places like Scotland or America. There's a whole world out there!

Discovery Road Four Lions is an English single malt whisky taken from the maturing stocks at St. George's Distillery. Dominic Roskrow, St George's distiller David Fitt and Whisky Tasting Club members Tony Bagnall and Pat Barrow are the four lions that this expression was named after, as they were the ones that chose the four 50 litre casks that make up this release.

Doughnut malt!
Like the official chapter bottles of the St.George distillery this is a somewhat youthful
Malt that cries out for a bit more age in cask. Some nice Apple dougnut sprinkled with sugar notes on the nose along with hints of peanut brittle or sesame snap bars. A hot & spicy banana & vanilla malt shake with a touch of mulled cider & ginger on the palate with lots of toasted vanilla & sappy new oak but a bit too sharp and adolescent for me. Why buy this.
Anyone who wants to buy the excelllent St George's whisky has plenty to choose from the distilleries own bottlings at a cheaper price. Seems to me that you are paying for the packaging here!
