This is an 8-year-old Old Orkney bottled by Decadent Drinks as part of the Decadent Drams range. Matured in a mix of bourbon and sherry American oak butts and hogsheads and bottled at 47% ABV, this ongoing release delivers coastal charm without shouting about it. Expect heathery smoke, waxy citrus and that gentle peppery peat that feels more windswept harbour than bonfire night. Only 306 bottles in this batch.
Soft peppery peat smoke with lemon rind, coastal air, light herbs and a touch of honeycomb.
Waxy and gently oily with heather honey, coal smoke, sea spray and drying herbal peat.
Good length with salty tang, savoury pepper, lingering smoke and a final flicker of wax.
