Deanston Virgin Oak is made with young whisky which has been finished in brand new oak casks from Kentucky. Always a pleasure to have Deanston single malt Scotch whisky around, as they are certified by the Organic Food Association and power their distillery using hydro energy, so you can always feel good about the delicious dram in your hand.
Fresh citrus, honeyed barley and a subtle hint of smoke.
Toffee sweets pop up first, followed by a dollop of cream and oak notes.
Oak spices on the finish.
Well made, the new oak doesn't take over the whisky at all, which is always a risk with these casks.

Reminds me of some of Milroy's Soho special bottlings. Young with plenty of oak and spice and well balanced with zesty aromas and vanilla and toffee. Great value for adventurous connoisseurs, 5 stars all the way!
Great price for a whisky that has tons of characters. Fun to do blind tasting with friends. My secret weapon ;-)
The afterglow is the best part. Delicious
Two things about this whisky grabbed my attention: "un-chill filtered" and "nothing added", ie: no E150 caramel coloring. Being priced at under $30 ($26 to be exact), this was a whisky I had to try, and I am glad I did. It has a bit of a "young" taste, not as smooth as a more mature whisky, but still very good. I purchased a case after realized I liked it, some to store away for later enjoyment, some to enjoy with friends at gatherings, etc. And as it's so affordable, it will be great for those friends who mix with cola.
Oceans of flavor, and a pretty good price. Not at all smooth, and I know that matters to many, but I enjoyed it.
