The folks at Darkness got their hands on a batch of tremendously well-aged Islay single malt here, matured for an impressive 32 years! The whisky finished its maturation in a custom-made, teeny little oloroso sherry octave cask, imparting a great big whack of chewy toffee and cocoa to the tarry, maritime malt within.
Beach barbecue, grilled shellfish, salty sea breeze and briny peat smoke, with burnt ends, sweet, smoky barbecue sauce, and a touch of savoury spice.
Meaty chewy sweet peat, salted tablet and tarry smoke are joined by rich dark chocolate and a touch of billtong.
Sweet smoke lingers, with thick toffee and briny salinity.
