A mysterious Islay single malt here, independently bottled up for the Darkness range. No clues as to which distillery it came from, but what we do know is that the whisky is 12 years old, and it has enjoyed a finishing period in a specially-coopered Oloroso sherry octave cask, helping to impart plenty of sherried fruit and spice notes to the peaty Islay single malt. If you love the classic combo of peat 'n' sweet, then you'll love this.
Mocha, toasted peppercorns, sea breeze with a hint of minerality, rum-soaked raisins.
Plum, salted caramel tart, buttered (and slightly burnt) toast with a dollop of blackberry jam.
