An Oloroso sherry finished expression from the Highland distillery, Dalwhinnie. This Distiller's Edition is a 14 year old single malt with beautiful herbal notes and a very wistful peat.
Sherried, sultana, earthen. Lemon grass and a soft smoke.
Rich, barley, honey counteracts the oak. Touch of peat, aniseed.
Decent length, honey, dry oak, touch of smoke.

As someone who always enjoys a 15 year old Dalwhinnie and a 15 year old Balvennie I thought I would give this a try, what a wonderful decision on my behalf. This has now become my sipping malt, its rich smooth taste, almost creamy and a slight hint of caramel (I guess this is where the honey interacts with the oak). Worth every penny, friends who have had a dram or two with me have been converted as well, I will be purchasing more so as to retain a decent stock level!
