Dalmore Port Wood Reserve Bottling Note
Single malt from the Dalmore distillery, initially aged in American white oak casks before enjoying a finishing period in Port pipes. These casks were sourced from well-known port producer W&J Graham's. This isn't the first time that Dalmore has shown an appreciation for Graham's casks - a trio of releases from mid-2017 were all finished in Graham's Port casks (see here, here and here).

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose: Clove-studded orange, rich raspberry and prune, a touch of sponge cake.
Palate: Chocolatey at first, before waves of dried fruit and stem ginger notes appear. A touch of earthy bitterness develops later on, balanced by runny honey.
Finish: Roast chestnuts, gingerbread and tobacco.

Dalmore Port Wood Reserve Reviews
Delicious
I should point out that I'm not a whisky expert by any means but I do appreciate a good whisky and for the price I think this is excellent. Warming, smooth, lovely flavours that really last, I'll definitely be buying more of this.

A challenge whisky
I find the nose and first taste unpleasant. This is moderated if I wait 10 minutes after pouring. Even after this wait, it remains a challenge whisky for me. I find smaller sips more tolerable, bordering on enjoyable as I move through the pour. The aftertaste is sweet and satisfying.
The bottle will last me longer than most, but I will finish it.

Very enjoyable
I am a newcomer to the experience of scotch whiskey bourbon is my usual tipple but I decided to treat myself and opted for the Dalmore as I enjoy port and thought it might be a good starting point. It was. I found this to be extremely enjoyable, beautiful aroma of fruit, sweet and plummy with an almost citrus smell. The taste was superb warm and inviting with more of the fruitiness and an almost toffee apple sweetness and a long finish. I consider it money well spent and an excellent introduction to something different. Delighted with this choice.

Overpriced
Not a lot going on. Easy drinking and relitivly sweet but no complexity with a thin mouthfeel.
It's just ok.

Thin and not terribly smooth.
Apart from the King Alex, which was okay bar expensive, I've yet to try a Dalmore that is worthy of the cost. They've all been remarkably thin with quite a harsh burn and very little flavour. It was drinkable, but for the money, there are many MANY better whiskies out there imo. Highly overrated.

rather nice this
Caramel and sweet stewed fruits. Quite creamy. A bit of orange too. A slight dry finish.
Quite powerful so half teaspoon of water assists in rounding edges and opening up.
rather nice this, with its long finish..

Christmas whisky if there ever was one!
This whisky has all the Christmas flavours and smells - gingerbread, cloves, oranges and port. Full of flavour with a great aftertaste. Perfect for after Christmas dinner.

Could be a nice introduction to those non scotch drinkers.
My first foray into Dalmore and I would highly recommend! The Port adds a pleasant addition to a very good whisky.
