A sherried single malt produced by the Dalmore Distillery, independently bottled up for the Darkness range. A Darkness Dalmore, if you will. Catchy nicknames aside, this expression was matured for 14 years, including a stint in an Oloroso sherry octave cask, which is much smaller than your run-of-the-mill hogshead, meaning a greater surface area to volume ratio, allowing for more interaction between the whisky and the wood.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose Dense notes of dried fruit (prunes and apricots) balanced by ginger and drying oak. Very slightly earthy at points.
Palate Those earthy notes develop into hints of tobacco and cedar, while the sherried sherry sweetness continues to grow.
Finish Cinnamon, honeydew melon, spiced hot chocolate.
