Dalmore Cigar Malt was discontinued in mid-2009, causing quite an uproar indeed. The whiskies used for the reworked version were actually slightly older, but naturally still pair perfectly with a cigar.
It's a great whisky, whether you drink with its intended purpose in mind or not. And if you do enjoy cigars, you'll want to know that the stick that provided the flavour benchmark for pairing is the hefty Partagas Serie D No. 4.
Caramel, shortbread, biscuits, coffee and chocolates. Simple, clean and moreish.
Yet more toffee, caramel edging towards the burnt cinder-toffee side of things. Flamed orange-zest, and perfectly integrated sherry.
Reasonably simple, Christingles (orange Zest and clove with a touch of cinnamon), more mid-palate than palate-coating.
Definitely meets the criteria of pairing with a ‘BIG’ cigar.

Great with a Cuban Bolivar! Strong malt and a strong cigar. Good job!
My best friend purchased Dalmore Cigar Malt for me, for my birthday. My wife provided the Padrón 1964 Anniversary Series Cigars. A match made in Haberdashery Heaven! Wonderful smooth drinkability!!
Well, I tried Dalmore Cigar Malt 2019 at a tasting at Joe Canal's Lawrenceville store and I was very impressed. I found this Dalmore Cigar Malt far more balanced and sophisticated than the JW Blue I used to cherish on occasion. The Pete is the palate, not the main course. The spice notes are precise and excellent. The finish is superb. The warmth and spirit of a blazing winter hearth in a bottle.
Smooth notes on the nose, warm and gentle at first taste, rolling through from caramel and zest to hint at the sherry and oak finish. A new favourite for me.
It is a single malt that really gives you pleasure in the Company with a cuban or a Dominican.
