    Dalmore Cigar Malt

Dalmore Cigar Malt was discontinued in mid-2009, causing quite an uproar indeed. The whiskies used for the reworked version were actually slightly older, but naturally still pair perfectly with a cigar.

It's a great whisky, whether you drink with its intended purpose in mind or not. And if you do enjoy cigars, you'll want to know that the stick that provided the flavour benchmark for pairing is the hefty Partagas Serie D No. 4.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Caramel, shortbread, biscuits, coffee and chocolates. Simple, clean and moreish.

    Palate

Yet more toffee, caramel edging towards the burnt cinder-toffee side of things. Flamed orange-zest, and perfectly integrated sherry.

    Finish

Reasonably simple, Christingles (orange Zest and clove with a touch of cinnamon), more mid-palate than palate-coating.

    Overall

Definitely meets the criteria of pairing with a ‘BIG’ cigar.

    mr

excellently smooth and velvety-gently massages the palate while caressing ones tonsils a warm stream of treacle as it goes down causing ones eyes to close uncontrollably exposing your vulnerability to this liquid equivalent of gold!

Totally exquisite. My Husband bought this during a business trip to the distillery a few years ago and we were instantly hooked. We love the depth and taste.

    Give me the original

The original Cigar Malt is my absolute favorite. But I only have a half bottle left. Any recommendations out there for something comparable? And please don't suggest the Reserve. Not the same and way too pricey. Anyone?

No cigar needed and splitting opinion

I personally feel there is a great amount of snobbery surrounding this as it is a whisky that is young and for the price not worth it for some snobs (as age statements are everything of course). Furthermore the young age is why E150 has been used but it in no way affects the taste with overwhelming sweetness, people are exaggerating that. To be quite honest I feel as though Dalmore divides opinion full stop, not just this particular single malt. Overall I think it's a whisky worth the money I found it to be unusual as there was a minty freshness to it and it was just very complex on the nose.
