A Flora and Fauna official release from the Dailuaine distillery, a 16 year old single malt which has been sherry matured for thick fruitcake notes with winter spice, a great digestive.
Cereals, barley sugars, sherry. Fruitcake, oily, nutty.
Medium body, clean. Malt, estery fruit. Sherry. Nutty.
Nutty, almonds, oily, smoke, oak.
Sweet malty and full of sherry. Fruit cake and winter spice. smooth and a hint of old fashioned pipe smoke. loved the rounded malty sweetness, fading to mint chocolate and a hint of pepperiness. loved the second glass even more !
So smooth in fact Mrs A enjoying it with just a dash of water. I like the sherry and nuts, and get some wine in the finish. Nice
Bought my first bottle of this from Royal Lochnagar in 2019. Very impressed. Good sherry flavours and a medium finish. Slightly disappointed to find it has added caramel for colour though…
A very well balanced complex whisky. Smooth and sweet, a great Speyside offering. I can see myself buying another bottle.
Unfortunately I didn't get a lot from this. The nose was nice with a lovely sweet creamy vanilla and some fruity notes. There's some sherry there for sure. The pallette didn't quite reflect the nose but still had some lovely sweet sherry notes. The finish let the dram down though and seemed to drop off. There was some sweet ok but it didn't last long. It would make a nice sipper or a introduction to a non whisky drinker but for me, the quality doesn't reflect the price.
