Another delicious batch of single malt from Craigellachie, independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company. They've got their hands on a 9 year old single malt from the Speyside-based distillery, and bottled it up at 49.4% ABV. The worm tub on the label remains far too realistic for our tastes, but it does remind us that Craigellachie are one of the few remaining distilleries to use a worm tub to cool down vapour from the stills. Batch 4 is a release of 271 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Potpourri, barley sugar, citrus peels and stem ginger.
Subtle wafts of smoke take shape on the palate, supported by earthy vanilla and dried apricot. A hint of chocolate mousse, too.
Black pepper, cut grass, honey and rye.
I like a lot of TBWC’s offering, but this was pretty poor. Certainly not worth the price for a small bottle.
