Description

Craigellachie’s traditional worm tub condensers help give its single malt the meaty character we’re so fond of. When you’ve got spirit with that much personality, a well-chosen refill cask can be just the thing to let it develop, which is exactly what appealed to us about this 16-year-old. We bottled it at a cask strength of 58.1% ABV, without chill-filtration or added colour to make sure not one drop was adulterated. There's just 324 bottles of properly characterful Speyside malt.

Nose

Quality olive oil, slight hint of balsamic, and the effect literally makes my mouth water. Extremely appetising aroma.

Palate

Heavier than expected, weighty and mouth filling texture full of apples gently decaying on an earthen orchard floor.

Finish

The kind of cask that would make any blend better but that also stands out alone, deep and satisfying malt without the dominance of oak or its previous occupant.
