We do love a single malt from Craigellachie, and this is a cracking indie bottling from Hannah Whisky Merchants, released as part of its Lady of the Glen series. Distilled in 2013, the whisky spent 11 years maturing in a refill oloroso butt before finishing in a re-charred oloroso hogshead. A release of 215 bottles.
Heaps of ripe, soft stone fruits, apples, and pears, backed by fruit cake spice and juicy barley.
Oily, meaty malt, candied tropical fruits, banana bread, and honeyed nuts, backed by a touch of ginger.
Sherried oak, nut brittle, a touch of chilli, and woody spice.
