
The Cotswolds Distillery released its Founder's Choice single malt whisky near the end of 2018. The whisky used for this expression was selected by founder Dan Szor, made with odyssey barley grown on Cotswolds farms and malted at Warminster Maltings. The casks used for the Founder's Choice were American oak red wine casks that had been shaved, toasted and re-charred - a process designed by the late Dr. Jim Swan. After maturation, it was bottled at cask strength. We love that the Cotswolds Distillery is happy to give out plenty of info about how its whisky gets made, and the whisky itself is marvellous too - top marks all around!
Almond butter, redcurrant, damson, black pepper, croissants and coffee.
Peaches in syrup, drying oak warmth, gingerbread with sugary icing, a kick of Christmassy spice on the mid-palate.
Strawberry jam and clotted cream, toasted rye bread, a touch of citrus.

Absolutely amazing. I still have an inch or so left than I’m saving for a special occasion. If I could source this locally it would be my go to whiskey.
This is a sensational whisky. Full of flavour especially for a young whisky. Ignore tired old gimmicky offerings and give this a go.
