Copper Dog Bottling Note

A blended malt Scotch whisky named after a little piece of kit used once upon a time by distillery workers to covertly sneak spirit home... Eight different single malts from Speyside are combined by master blender Stuart Morrison to create this well-balanced whisky, which is designed to be well-suited for enjoying neat or in cocktails and mixed drinks.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Peach, pear and dried apple. Classic Speysider honey'd cereal notes.

Palate: Chocolate digestives, nutty malt, orange peels and soft simmering spices.

Finish: Baked goods and honey-covered fruit.

Copper Dog Reviews

Only Good For Decorating Your Toilet

Cheap bok this so called whisky. I blame this one for the hangover and toilet decorations after a heavy night. I had this early in the night and it was pretty hard to swallow. I like all types of quality whisky and this is not quality. When you have so many great whiskies at a similar price to try, choosing this Copper Ming Dog is like choosing to support Cowdenbeath when you come from Madrid. Anybody who has given it a good review has yet to appreciate good whisky. And to the person who said it might be nice with Coke, I say you might as well buy a cheaper bad whisky to wash down and disguise the poor taste with Coke. This Copper Ming Dog is for toilet decorations only.

Might be OK with coke

Bought a bottle today, sadly one of the worst scotch whisky I have tasted. Watery bitter taste, none of the warm burn on the throat. Might give to my son-in-law to mix with coke.

Didn't cost much but not impressed. Guess you get what you pay for.

Pleasant aroma but lacking depth in flavour and didn't have the quality characteristics that you would with a good whisky.
Tasted more like a cheap blend, like Grant's, rather than a nicer blend like monkeys shoulder.

Nice and fruity. Fantastic o.

Thanks for this one guy's it's very drinkable. At this price as well and delivered the day before predicted. A winner winner. The problem is putting the cork back in it's so smooth. I enjoyed this more than Monkey Shoulder which was one my favorite blended malt this arrived.

Tastes more expemsive than it is!

Very, very good blend. If you like bourbon and incline more towards fruitty aromatic whiskys then this is for you!

1st February 2020

It smells like tequila

If I drank this blind, I would think it was tequila. If I was planning to drink tequila, not bad.

3rd December 2019

Not very smooth.

Not a very nice whiskey, didnt taste like malt at all.

It's alright for nothing the names a bit suspect but I like it cause it's whiskey

Wonderful and skilful blend of Speyside whiskies

While single malts are by and far what I've been drinking for years and years this whiskey once again proves that there are some truly wonderful and exciting blends out there. I'm on my second bottle of this... it's nice to simply relax and enjoy. All it needs for me is a wee drop of water... hold it in your hands allowing it time to warm up a little then just enjoy the outstanding aroma...

Good for the price

Good for the price. Very easy to drink, no bad after taste and smooth on the palate

25th September 2018

Not worth buying again.

Had great expectations like Monkey Shoulder.
Totally disappointing.

23rd September 2018

great on travels

Just tried it to relief some backpain while traveling through Glasgow airport.. it works.. and it is smooth..

21st September 2018

Very pleasantly surprised

Very smooth whisky and amazing value for money! Loved the story behind it of stealing the whisky from the barrels

18th September 2018

Little nose, no taste other than raw alcohol, no aftertaste beyond a burning sensation. Will work for people who only want to get drunk fast.

18th August 2018

Average it's okay but I wouldn't rush out and buy it again!

4th August 2018

Devilishly smooth blend.

Another beginner's favourite. Slips down like a honey'd mead, no burn. Very well blended and completely inoffensive. If you're a seasoned whisky drinker you'll find no relish here. But if you're into trying to convert friends and family this is a great introduction. Much like chivas its a great cocktail ingredient.

Best taste

Tried at Changi Airport it’s good combinations of malt & bought 3 bottles so far with “Cute little copper vessel” as gift & memorial for its historic invention.

31st July 2018

For the price, it is good enough but it's not memorable.

23rd May 2018

Smooth and tasty.

Had a wee taster at Glasgow Airport last week. I don't normally like Whisky, but this one is quite delicious and I would certainly consider buying this product.

23rd May 2018

Easy dram for price

Not remarkable, not terrible.

3rd April 2018

Very bland. I was expecting more. 40%, chill filtered and added colour. I suppose there is someone for it but it lacked quality even at £30. Sorry.

30th March 2018

Just Heaven.

Tried once. OMG. Simply heaven in a glass. My next bottle awaits.

10th March 2018

Bargain, quite sweet and very easy on the palate

New BA lounge tipple of choice

25th January 2018

Nice !!!

Neat is the way to go.

16th December 2017

Mans best friend!

That is one of the smoothest drams I've ever tasted! Great with fresh apple juice too

12th December 2017

Great scotch, great price

Beautiful scotch for the price point. Very easy to drink.

1st December 2017

Worth it

Whisky Santa included this sample and I was pleased. Looked up the price and will definitely add it to my stock. Smooth, not as fruity as the write ups but I was already into the drams I’d ordered.

Great Bourbonish Scotch! Great Price.

A great low smoke scotch! This juice drinks much like a bourbon, and mixes like one as well. Great old fashioned at home with a little simple and bitters.

11th November 2017

Great Value, and mixes very well. (Beverage Manager, Chicago Il)

This scotch is incredible for the price. A great blend of stone fruit and light smoke lend to a variety of mixing options. I currently use it in a classic 'blood and sand', or to turn bourbon drinkers on to light scotches, with much success.

I bought a bottle of Copper Dog from Waitrose supermarket in Otley, West Yorkshire today and I can assure you I shall be there again to replenish when finished, which I do not think that will not be long. PERFECT STUFF

22nd September 2017

Has a cheeky character that surely pleasures your palate.

In my opinion a very well balanced dram with plenty of character. One of the best blends I have had over the years.
A nice match of oak, vanilla, honey, spice and fruit that creates a very pleasant appealing and satisfying dram.

15th May 2017

. well balanced easy drink value for money

Very supprised with this dram. Didn't know what to expect.
But not disappointed, the sweet rush of honey with the zesty aftertaste tongue tingling mouthful with the build of warming spice .
Let it sit in the glass warming in your hand
