Yorkshire's net zero energy Cooper King distillery embarked on a voyage to create this single malt whisky, Transatlantic is matured in a combination of Bordeaux wine and Kentucky bourbon casks as part of the distillery's Expedition Series. This English whisky was produced on-site from floor-malted heritage English Maris Otter barley, hand-mashed, long-fermented, and double copper pot distilled in small 900-litre batches before it was bottled up without added colour or chill filtration – just look at that hue! For every bottle sold, the folks at Cooper King make a £5 donation to their charity partner Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, supporting environmental apprenticeships for young people in England.
Fruity notes of boiled sweeties, jam, and marmalade, with toasted oak, vanilla, and honey.
Rich layers of oaken vanilla balance woody notes of cinnamon and clove, with burnt caramel and cacao in tow.
Vinous fruit, sweet citrus, subtle liquorice, a pinch of dried chilli.
