Teaninich 8yo Concept 8 Bottling Note

This independently bottled single malt was distilled at Teaninich and matured for eight years before being bottled by the folks at Concept 8. The concept of Concept 8, is unsurprisingly focused on the number eight, which is believed by many across Asia to bring good fortune and prosperity. For this particular release, eight casks of eight year old single malt were selected from Teaninich, producing a total outturn of 3,688 bottles.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Sugared lemon drizzle cake and milky coffee, with almond syrup.

Palate: A big hit of malt and earthen oak, with stewed orchard fruit and walnut bread.

Finish: Chocolate nuts, buttery pastry a touch of spice, and lemony zest.

Bang for your buck!
I thought concept 8. 40.8%. Looks like its got caramel in it. Probably chill filtered. For a foreign market who are traditionally not big whisky drinkers - probably terrible - I'll regret buying this. Damn was I wrong!

Nose: straw, butter, honey a bit of malt. Understated.
Palate: toffee, soft fruits, a little shoe leather, bees wax. Is that some Christmas cake developing? Sweet yet balanced, full bodied and eminently quaffable.
Finish: gentle but not weak. Sweet. Somewhat warming.
