Compass Box No Name 2 Bottling Note

While the first No Name release from Compass Box was its peatiest whisky to date, No Name 2 is a somewhat more refined expression, mirrored by the slightly more colourful bottle decoration. Don't be fooled, it's still a fabulously peaty treat marrying Island single malts, the first a sherry-matured Caol Ila, the second from Talisker aged in recharred American oak hogsheads. Finally, single malt from Clynelish was added alongside a mystery Highland malt blend which was aged in French oak. At 48.9% ABV, it's packed full of peat without being overpowering, letting some of the more delicate nuances shine through.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Loads of smoky peat aromas, balanced by dried cherry and prune sweetness, a sweet floral note and a touch of bonfire smoke with a waxy citrus peel.

Palate: Sweet and smoky intertwine with smoked meats, a hint of salt, oak char and dried fruit notes, with fresh, ripe cherries.

Finish: Rock salt and maritime smoke with a dash of red fruit and a dry oaky finish.

Compass Box No Name 2 Reviews

Not worth the money.

Honestly, it is very good, but not 180 good. I tried it against a 2018 bottling of peat monster and I'm sad to say they are very very close in taste. The diminishing returns on this bottle cut me deep. For a 100 less get yourself peat monster. The miniscule improvements are not worth the hike in price. Still delicious though.

Amazing balance and delicate...

Peat is not overpowering but its their... with some dried fruits somewhat floral just a bit.
So pleasing in the mouth the flavors... delicately balanced. With touch of saltines...
Medium long finish.
An amazing dram!
