This whisky was released by Compass Box to mark the change in the Scotch Whisky Regulations of 2009, that after the 22nd November 2011 blends of single malt whiskies may no longer be labelled as Vatted malts, instead they must be called Blended Malts. This is made with a 35 year old Speyside malt and a 26 year old Islay. A delicious whisky!
Nose: Minty, buttery and spicy with notes of ice wine, a touch of gentle smoke, a little prune juice and some subtle peat.
Palate: Full and sweet with a whack of sherried malt and peat smoke, chocolate raisins and berry fruits. A hint of rhubarb crumble and wood smoke, with a little linseed and pine resin.
Finish: Peaty, smoky and oily with toffee brittle and salty butter.
