Colonel EH Taylor Single Bottling Note

An excellent brand owned by Buffalo Trace that uses similar methods and recipes to the ones Colonel E. H. Taylor introduced and improved during his time as a bourbon distiller in the late 1800s. The Single Barrel release is made with specially selected barrel exclusively aged in Warehouse C, which Taylor built himself in 1881! What a guy.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Some pretty spicy notes, rich with oak. It's cooled down with fruity figs and plums.

Palate: Sweet and buttery, with a surprising hint of orange peel. Some tobacco smokiness follows.

Finish: Very long indeed, the tobacco notes in full effect.

Overall: That Colonel E.H. Taylor sure knew what he was doing, and the distillers of this single barrel bourbon definitely do too. Simply fantastic.

Colonel EH Taylor Single Barrel Reviews

Fantastic

Up there with the best and IMO far better than their Small Batch offering.

One of the best you can get

Arguably the best bourbon I've ever had. Pure smoothness

A GOOD BOURBON BUT NOT A PAPPY KILLER

It's very nice, but not quite as smooth as Pappy 12, which for me is the benchmark.

However I did find it nicer than Pappy 10 and 15, so at this price is a very good choice as Pappy tends to be very overpriced.

Good

It's God bourbon whiskey

Simply the best value out there for American Whisk(e)y

Quality of spirit and taste is just as good or better than Old Rip Van Winkle 12 yr. However, the real area where this shines above Pappy/Van Winkle is this:
- more readily available
- properly priced

Old Rip Van Winkle 12yr is a delicious bourbon, but it ain't worth the absurd prices being asked.

Smooth!

Very smooth, love the flavor!

Fantastic! Better than Pappy

I sat down with a glass of Pappy Van Winkle 15 yo and a glass of Col EH Taylor single barrel. The Col was much better. Smooth. Great taste with a sweet finish. If you find a bottle, buy it. You won't be disappointed!

fantastic

Orange peel on the nose. Absolutely silky palate. Like something out of a dream where you can fly and skip merrily across clouds then slide down a rainbow. So easy to drink yet not overly sugary.

Oh yeah!

All I have to say about this is...WOW! Words cannot do this any justice. Grab a bottle if you can and hang on to it.

better than pappy

Beautiful finish, a real surprise that this was so good

Wonderful stuff...

Has a great red fruit finish similar to William Larue Weller from the BTAC. Great stuff and underrated.
