Colonel EH Taylor

Colonel EH Taylor Single Bottling Note

An excellent brand owned by Buffalo Trace that uses similar methods and recipes to the ones Colonel E. H. Taylor introduced and improved during his time as a bourbon distiller in the late 1800s. The Single Barrel release is made with specially selected barrel exclusively aged in Warehouse C, which Taylor built himself in 1881! What a guy.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Some pretty spicy notes, rich with oak. It's cooled down with fruity figs and plums.

Palate: Sweet and buttery, with a surprising hint of orange peel. Some tobacco smokiness follows.

Finish: Very long indeed, the tobacco notes in full effect.

Overall: That Colonel E.H. Taylor sure knew what he was doing, and the distillers of this single barrel bourbon definitely do too. Simply fantastic.

The best bourbon I have ever tasted and I have tasted plenty in my 70 years!

Another winner out of Buffalo Trace. Never pass up a bottle of EH Taylor.
There is a reason which you don't often see the EH Taylor Single Barrel out on the shelf. It's just a fantastic bottle of bourbon. I'm fortunate in that I have a go-to liquor store in which the GM always puts any of the very few bottles of EH Taylor back for me. If you see a bottle, don't think about it, just buy it.

Smooth bourbon.. not too sweet or spicy... great balance
I try to always have EH Taylor in my bar. It's a solid, quality bourbon and I've yet to come across a bad bottle. It has just a nice touch of heat, but the alcohol is not up front. I also really enjoy the lingering toffee I'm still tasting some time after the last swallow. A good bourbon with good balance between sweet and spicy and highly accessible. This is a good choice to share with someone not fully accustomed to drinking whiskey.

This to me has to be just as good if not better than Blanton
Through my time of enjoying bourbon, I’ve bought bourbons that I felt were go as well as bad. When I came across this, I thought I would give it a try. I was totally impressed by it soft, slightly sweet Carmel with a pear with a oaky flavor. I have to admit it was one of the better bourbons I’ve enjoyed. After I had my 3rd dram of it, I did something I normally don’t do. I went back and bought another bottle of it. Seeing that there was two left I bought them. Since then I’ve gone to where I am storing them with a few other bourbons and scotch’s for future enjoyment. I’m always tempted to open another one. Seeing how hard it is to find and get, I’ll hold off for awhile longer and sit back and know what I have. Only to wish I could have bought more while they were easier to get.

Smooth, Well Balanced, Flavorful Bourbon
A very well balanced Bourbon that is gentle on the nose, smooth on the palate and has a lingering finish. None of the flavors overpower the other.

On the nose you get a careful hint of toffee, raisins and brown sugar with a bit of sweetness, which I credit the maize for. The fumes are not overwhelming at all.

The palate is very smooth and oily with some spice and a bit of that smoky coal from the charred barrel. While this Bourbon is rolling on your tongue it is very gentle.

When you swirl down the brew and breathe out you do however get a small explosion of flavor, spice, dried fruits, toffee and lastly the sweet vanilla. Once done the finalist is the oak welcoming your next sip. Great Bourbon!

Colonel E.H. Taylor Single Barrel Bourbon
Colonel E.H. Taylor Single Barrel is one of my top 5 favorite bourbons. It's becoming increasingly hard to find. So , if you find a bottle, it would behoove you to buy it.

I found this looking up my family tree...
My ancestor was an E H Taylor, lived in upper state NY. Edwin Hart Taylor. Wondering about this EHTaylor and if they are connected. Sorry I don't care of the stuff, but would make good gifts for family members.

Buy some..you deserve it!
As a mature whiskey drinker and a lover of fine Bourbon, I can't be more enthusiastic about the single barrel Taylor. Simply the best. Also the tasting notes above are exactly spot on.

Best so far.
Bought this at my BC Govt Liquor Store for $94. It’s the best bourbon I’ve ever tasted. Sweet and potent with a smooth, smokey finish. Beautiful.

Fantastic
Up there with the best and IMO far better than their Small Batch offering.
