Single Malt
Scotland

Distilled in 1997, this rich Clynelish single malt was bottled for Diageo's Distillers Edition range. Before doing so, it was finished in Oloroso seco casks, and the result is fruity and complex.
Soft smoke, burnt toast and hints of baked apple. Mixed spices and sea spray.
Rich, malty core with notes of fruity honey and salted butter. Beeswax develops, with candied peel and smoke.
Smoky, peppery finish.

I concur on the finish description by the MoM, but on the rest, it opens with a heavily sherry nose but still enough of the oak present to be notable. The palate does have a rich, malty core with fruit, and largely stays there, waiting for the smoke and pepper at the finish. Came highly recommended at Whisky Exchange in London, and I feel like I was guided well. (I'm a Speyside, low-peat fan).
