A light, vanilla-rich blended whiskey from the Clontarf 1014 range, named after the Battle of Clontarf which took place in 1014. Matured exclusively in bourbon casks, this is a good value drop of Irish whiskey.
Clontarf is a favorite of mine. It is my " go to " smooth and crisp to my palate. always a joy to enjoy

Failure to triple distill is quite evident. For a smoother inexpensive whiskey, go with Clontarf or Tullamore DEW.
I got this under the assumption it would be a mediocre irish whiskey for me to down, cheaply and economically without too much regret taste wise. Boy did I underestimate this. This is an exceptionally smooth whiskey, from what I've tasted of Irish Whiskey's, which belies the delicate, rich flavors lying underneath. The nose you immediately get a faint sourness with vanilla cream. Taste is very mild at first, building on bitter and sour notes, which evolve into a soft cream flavor that finishes with a very mild, peppery-oak spice. I can see from some of the other reviews that they have on here that it's well appreciated. It would be nice if the spice flavor was more refined, so you could really get that bourbon spice that's just hinted at, but I suppose it works fine as it is, after all, you're getting a darn smooth and delicately flavored irish whiskey here that competes with most middle-shelf whiskeys and at a far lower price.
