Single Malt

The first single malt release from the Family Bond Series that Ahascragh Distillery put together while the site is under construction. While we wait, we can enjoy this quality single malt that was distilled in 2001 and matured for 19 years in first-fill American white oak bourbon casks, before being finished in oloroso sherry butts from Jerez. In its first year, it scored 94 points at the International Wine and Spirits Competition.
Creamy smooth caramel, raisins, nutmeg, and coffee.
Dark fruit, nuttiness, vanilla, and chocolate orange.
Long and spicy.

Bought a bottle to enjoy with friends for St Patrick's day. A new distillery to us all so we didn't know what to expect. Turns out it was very good. It certainly didn't taste like majority of Irish whiskies I have tried with the Oloroso casks showing a little dominance. This helped make it full of red fruits, some light like strawberry and some darker like blackberries. It had a nice spice to the mid-palate and finish with a little dryness there too.
