The Chita

Sorry about this...

We can't actually ship The Chita to you in United States at the moment. We're working on a solution.

The Chita Bottling Note

Japanese single grain whisky from the Chita distillery, one of the selection of fantastic distilleries owned by Suntory. This is their main expression - a whisky matured in a combination of Sherry, bourbon and (interestingly) wine casks. Good whisky for the summer months.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Honeydew melon, citrus and honey'd cereal.

Palate: Vanilla sponge cake and more honey. A touch of orchard blossom.

Finish: Medium length, rather zesty.

Will buy again for sure.

A fantastic sipping whiskey...

Gentle, playfully vibrant but smooth

Blonde in blossom summer dress, scent of spring flowers, taste of sweet angels’ lips and her vanilla hair filling my lungs with faint but persistent craving for that warm current that gently makes me happily surrender to smile after smile...

The best highball!

Very light and very tasty! You must try this with soda. Smooth!
If you are looking to get knocked out without a punch, Chita with soda is the tastiest way to go. No hangover whatsoever.
Trust me, i have tasted whatever is available.

Not bad

In general I liked it.Similar to Haig Club, but better. I would buy again for ~£30 maybe

20th April 2020

spring time

light and sweet not to complex at minimal spice and citrus finish. enjoy with an ice cube for a very mellow drink.

Chita. No cheating. Lovely

Smooth light whisky. Caramel sauce. A bit of spice. Nice sweet finish.

Not my cup of tea.

Not big on this at all. I’ve been drinking Glenfarclas 25 and a Kilchoman 9 year old so maybe I’ve been spoilt...but this stuff tastes exactly like Haig club to me. I can taste vanilla, caramel and little else. It’s borderline undrinkable in my honest opinion, but I know a lot of whisky drinkers who would say the same thing about some of my favourite drams so each to their own.

A New Suntory Fan

Beautifully smooth with vanilla and honey.
Easy drinking.

Great light and fruity.

Lovely jubley light, fruity very nice and will be having a closer look at Japanese whiskey for sure.

10th September 2019

Nice but could be better if not so oily aftertaste

Sweetish... pear, honey, mandarin. Pretty smooth BUT oily. I find it lingers too long to classify it as a clean drink.

The Chita..delightfully unique taste

Had this whiskey in Osaka, April 2018. This whiskey is a beautiful in look and the taste... sweet and lovely...all I can say it was a awesome whiskey tasting evening in Osaka!! Can find other whiskeys from Suntory in the US.... but not many know about The Chita.. would like to purchase as soon as I can find...

Blew Our Socks Off

Expectations were low, as it is an inexpensive whisky, but between the three of us, it blew our socks off. Picked up the first bottle from Japan. The second and third found at Reagan International Airport going from DCA to Canada. It was the only Japanese Whisky there.

30th January 2019

Easy to drink

Easy to drink sweet but too light on the finish

22nd January 2019

Deceptively nice

Had a bottle bought for Christmas as I have had an interest in Japanese whisky for a while.
I spent ten minutes sniffing the stuff! a wonderfully incredibly smooth ring of open air and vanilla.
the finish left me wanting more. the taste is like honey over the tongue and orchardy.
Already ordered a second bottle. VERY VERY IMPRESSED. going to investigate more Suntory Whiskys

Very good

Nice taste.

Ingenious Japanese Juice

This is a mighty good all-rounder.
It’s suitable for both sipping and mixing.

By all means this is very japanese.
It has a very floral, sweet nose like some great Speysiders but this is grain and japanese + grain = SWEETNESS squared.

This goes on in the mouth where honey, light chocolate/caramel and citrus. It’s really pleasant and the finish is medium long with a sweet edge.

This is a great summer whisky as it is, but You should try this out:

One long drink glass.
Throw in three good ice cubes.
6cl Chita goes in too.
Top up with neutral club soda or ginger ale/beer.

Well done. One star off for high pricetag.

Easy drinking, not complex.

I was very pleasantly surprised as I am a Single Malt nut!!! And not a particular lover of Japanese Single Malts. I concur more easily with the notes from the Masters of Malt rather than those from the distillers.
My first impression was of smoothness and honey which with a little time melted into a caramel. Orange notes at first but fades quite quickly. A most enjoyable and very drinkable dram but not a long finish. Haven't yet tried it with water much less with ICE!

A great and inexpensive japanese whisky

For the price of 37€ from an airport sale, this is a must-buy. Hot damn what a cracker of a dram. Melons, honey, citrus, confectionary notes. Beautiful

18th September 2018

My first foray into Japanese whisky. Won't be my last. Delicate, light and smooth. Recommend, even at the price.

7th August 2018

Pricey but nicey.

This is my first venture into Japanese Whiskeys and I was told this was a good starting point. Light gold in colour with beautiful sweet aromas. Nice and smooth on the palate with sweet honey notes and lingering after. In all its easy afternoon drinking but for price there are better whiskies out there if origin is not a concern.

25th April 2018

Light and refreshing

This is a light and somewhat delicate whisky. Slightly sweet and citrus with a longer finish than expected. Very enjoyable to drink and moreish. Feels like spring in a bottle :-)

8th April 2018

Easy to drink

First time trying Japanese whisky, very light and easy to drink but nothing special or memorable about the taste. Very similar to Haig club.

4th March 2018

One of the very best whiskies I have ever tried! Loved it!

Agree with all previous comments! Fruity and refreshing! Very easy to drink !
One of the best I have tried, The bottle did not last long! Will definitely buy it again.

21st February 2018

Absolutely Love It.

A delightful Dram. Very easy to drink and refreshing. Without a doubt one of the finest Whiskies I have tried.
Highly Recomended.

19th January 2018

Easy value

Smooth, easy, sweet (honey) and a bitter finish (‘detergent’) that partly takes away the good. I bought it at the airport for 36€ so I guess thats value (wouldn’t by it again for the listed prices though).

3rd December 2017

my first grain whisky

agree to all comments above me, its easy to finish a bottle of this

15th October 2017

Smooth and tasty

This is a very fresh easy to drink whisky, very smooth. I'm quite lucky as my publican has a wide and varied range of Japanese whiskies. This is a really easy drink

14th September 2017

Fresh n fruity

Very refreshing. Obtained a sample, I guess it's the equivalent of a desert wine. Fresh, fruity, honey, oats and fresh cut flowers. I would certainly be happy to have a full bottle of this. But I have plenty of others above this in a wish list!
