Carsebridge
Scotland

A show-stopper of a single grain from the closed Carsebridge Distillery here, which was bottled for the 2018 edition of Diageo's Special Releases. It's actually the only single grain whisky to feature - what a choice it was - as well as being the oldest whisky from this year's range. It was matured in refill American-oak hogsheads for 48 years in total before it was bottled a cask strength 43.2%. Wowzer.

Light and delicate with oaky vanilla, red fruit, rose water and raspberry notes. Gentle cinnamon spice, too. Peach, apple and orange oil comes through with time, along with a dash of mint leaf.
Livelier than you'd expect from the nose. The vanilla takes on a peppery character alongside strawberries and cream, banoffee pie, blackcurrant, coconut, linseed oil and rocket leaf. With a dash of water, sweet spices come through.
Medium-length and defined by a soft oakiness, a general oiliness, and more of that banoffee pie.
A characterful, well-aged grain with loads going on.
