The Cardhu Special Cask Reserve features whisky taken from "very old oak casks", presented in their classic, handsome bottle. Top Speyside whisky from a long-standing distillery. Bottled in batches (which may not match the one in the image - for more info get in touch).
Dried apricots and pineapple. Thick waves of caramel and honey'd barley. The "old oak" makes a spicy appearance later on.
Plenty of cereal and barley at its centre, surrounded by home-made fudge, raisins, citrus zest and a good chunk of dark chocolate. Cinnamon and ginger pop up in the mid-palate.
Long and intense with spice.
A pleasing step-up from the Cardhu 12 Year Old.

Got a bottle for 30EUR from Amazon. My [high] expectations were not fulfilled at all as the taste is just too bland. Finish is as good as absent. Perhaps something went wrong with my particular bottle/batch etc. but if this dram 7s advertised as a step up from the 12yo I don't even want to imagine how the latter one tastes. Otherwise it is easy to drink aka and therefore OK for complete beginners that would be deterred by a trace of peat or any other stronger flavour
