The folks at North Star Spirits have bottled up yet another Caol Ila, and it's as brilliant as ever! Distilled in July 2013, this single malt rested in a refill sherry butt before it was bottled in May 2021, with 622 cask strength bottles released at a burly 60.9% ABV.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Barbecued citrus, bonfire smoke, damp oak, and savoury porcini mushrooms.
Palate
Burnt rubber and smoked meats, balanced by blackcurrant jam, tropical fruit, and peppery spice.
Finish
Woody herb stalks, lime peel, and a touch of buttery oak amid the smoke.
