Caol Ila 1997 PC

A beautiful Caol Ila from Gordon and MacPhail. This was distilled in 1997 and it was aged for a decade in bourbon casks before a 30 month finish in Hermitage wine casks (a classic French red made using Syrah grapes). Very fruity and at 45% it has plenty of body.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Thick and spicy with notes of ginger, hints of salty butter, stewed fruits, damson jam, black pepper, truffle oil and a little strawberry conserve on toast.

Palate Rich and full with notes of gingerbread, spices and hints of peat smoke. It also offers a marvellous salinity, alongside all kinds of desiccated fruits, nutmeg and malt.

Finish Good length with plenty of malt and spice. Hints of plum jam on the tail.
