Description

Distilled at Caol Ila in 2007, this single malt enjoyed the next 17 years maturing in a single hogshead. Bottled at a satisfying 49% ABV by Brighton's Cut Your Wolf Loose, it's a classic coastal Caol Ila, packed with bonfire smoke and preserved lemons. A release of 285 bottles, with label artwork from street artist Ricky Also.

Nose

A sea breeze carrying last night’s bonfire smoke and a hint of lemon cough sweet. A bit medicinal, but the nice kind that you don’t actually mind taking.

Palate

Starts off calm, then casually reminds you it’s still Caol Ila. Smouldering ash, sea salt, and a bit of lemon peel tossed in for good measure. There’s a waxy smoothness underneath it all, like someone ironed out the edges but left the soul intact. It’s not here to blow your head off—just to gently mess with your expectations.

Finish

Long and low like a bassline in a slow burner (think Dance Yrself Clean by LCD Soundsystem). Ashy, salty and slightly herbal, with a warmth that keeps tapping you on the shoulder like it’s not quite done talking.
