Single Malt
Master of Malt
What’s this, what’s this? There’s colour everywhere! What’s this, what’s this? It's full of festive flair – Caol Ila aged for 16 years, a Christmas special here.
In European folklore, it is said that St. Nicholas gives lumps of coal to children on the naughty list, while those on the nice list receive presents like toys or candy. Thank goodness we’re all adults here, and we get to enjoy lumps of whisky instead.
Joining our own Master of Malt collection, this single malt was distilled in 2008* and spent the next 16 years maturing in a Moscatel sweet wine barrique until we opened it up in 2025. We’ve dropped precisely 278 bottles that look like the result of a meeting between the Grinch, Vivienne Westwood, and our head of whisky, Sam Simmons, in a candy cane factory… Far better than a lump of coal, with layers of bonfire smoke, raisins, and fudge, this is a perfect gift for fans of peated whisky, and a supreme dram for fireside sipping on Christmas Day.
*Did you know that the best-selling children’s toy for Christmas 2008 was the Nintendo Wii Fit? We particularly remember all the videos of people who didn’t use the controller wrist strap and ended up smashing their lovely big tellies on Christmas morning. Naughty.
Hearty and robust, with waves of smoked caramel, sweet peat, and sticky ginger loaf, backed by treacle toffee, dandelion and burdock, earthy roasted chestnuts, and a touch of seaweed.
Soft, creamy notes of rum and raisin fudge open the way for bonfire ash and grilled stone fruits, chewy toffee, apple cake, and chocolate peanuts. There are hints of flamed orange peel, and sweet, gently drying oak, with balanced peat smoke riding throughout.
Fruity, sweet, and smoky, with floral honey, crumbly fudge, plump sultanas, elegant yet pronounced smoke, and subtle hints of mulled berries.
