Joining the ranks of our Master of Malt single cask bottlings we have some delightful single malt from Caol Ila. It was distilled in 2007 and matured in a refill hogshead for 11 years before being disgorged in 2019. A total of 154 bottles currently dwell here at MoM Towers, but we reckon it'll be time for us to say goodbye to them soon, as they make their onward journeys to you wonderful lot.

Fresh tarmac on a hot day, dense, oily peated barley and briney salinity, before elegant vanilla pod, frangipan and honeyed oatcakes join.
Incredibly soft at the start, with creamy malt and vanilla fudge cushioning herbacous, coastal peat smoke.
Plenty of peat character lingers, whispers of medicinal iodine develop, balanced by poached plums and zesty notes of key lime pie. These are joined by more vanilla cream, and cracked black pepper.

This is a really tasty whisky, and definitely tastes like a Caol Ila - the peat is lighter than other Islay whiskies but it still has lots of flavour.
Taste nothing like description, no peat or tarmac, no whispers of iodine. A palatable whiskey very much lacking in the peaty taste one associates with Islay.
