Smoky and rich, this is a full-bodied, powerful Caol Ila with notes of Latakia. Distilled in 1980 and bottled in 2011 by Berry Brothers and Rudd. Cask 4938.
Fruity, with hints of apricots, rapeseed oil, mahogany, old library books and salty butter.
Tobacco leaves, like Latakia - all kinds of pipe tobacco in fact, including some sweet aromatics - Cherry and Vanilla features prominently, and there's plenty of smoke too. Oak/peat notes develop.
Good length with cool woodsmoke and pepper.
